About the Garden - Small Show Garden
The Know, Act, Prevent Garden is designed to represent a typical family home with a kitchen/laundry, garden, and shed storage. Sponsored by the National Poisons Information Centre and the Health and Safety Authority, it highlights and creates awareness of the best safety practices when using garden chemicals and the importance of reading labels and keeping children safe from substances that might be dangerous.
The garden has a contemporary feel with a cream porcelain terrace and a bespoke bench that looks towards a shed where chemicals are stored correctly. It provides a space where the garden’s users can sit and reflect on how we can make our homes and gardens safer.
The garden’s planting scheme includes a colourful palette of low toxicity plants. These allow adults to garden safely and children to explore and play without the worry of them eating or touching plants that may be harmful.
