About the Designer

Jane McCorkell is an award-winning landscape architect and horticultural consultant with more than 25 years’ experience. She specialises in creating dynamic and future-proofed designs for domestic and commercial clients across Ireland. She has received many accolades for her work, including nine gold medals and a Best in Category Award at Bord Bia Bloom.

Jane holds an MLArch (Master of Landscape Architecture) (Hons) from University College Dublin and a BSc (Hons) Horticulture from the University of Hertfordshire & Writtle. She is a member of the Member of the Irish Landscape Institute and the Garden & Landscape Designers Association.

Garden Overview

Originally designed for Bord Bia’s Easy Steps to Dream Gardens this south-west-facing feature garden has been created with a family of nature enthusiasts in mind.

A haven for wildlife, it is planted in Jane McCorkell’s signature natural, organic style, with a wildflower grass area and pollinator-friendly flowers. The shrubs and flowers have been selected to encourage birds, bees and other insects and include Malus ‘Gorgeous’, Salvia ‘Royal Bumble’, Buddleja davidii ‘Black Knight’ and Mahonia aquifolium ‘Apollo’.

Designed to suit every age group, the garden features a hedgehog house that will appeal to small kids, while older children and teenagers will appreciate the easy-access bike storage and the outside room which can be transformed into a den or home office. A living wall and green-roofed storage add to the garden’s eco-credentials.
